More Info and Insights from Denis Healy:

This is actually the full show and, in effect, we lose about one minute of the Van part of the show.

This is an average audience recording and is slightly disappointing given that there are some excellent masters of this show doing the rounds.

It is a pity that the compilers did not put a little more effort into getting the best master that was available.
Had they done so, this could have been a boot to rival the likes of Pagan Streams for the title of the classic Van boot.
That said it is a worthy boot and it is an excellent show. It is also the first CD boot to feature tracks from The Healing Game album – six in all.
Van is really good on the vocals here and there are some excellent solos from band members. Overall opinion – good sound and a great show.Well worth the admission fee.

As an afterthought, it is worth mentioning the sleeve – the front has a really good colour close-up of Van with a “moody” B+W close-up of him on the rear.

The inner has a nice picture “Van through the ages”, which was lifted straight out of an article in “Q” magazine some time ago.

Nice graphic efforts overall though. Part of the unofficial website Read more:

FreeMorrison Notes: * = Track info fixed here in this upload to reflect art work info. After some research and finding the info above I see it was not jusy my copy that had the track info messed up – but the mistakes were made early on – what I find very interesting is the fact that it is mentioned from Denis Healy >

I believe it would be greatly appreciated form the Van Morrison Community if one had a Master Copy of this show and were to share it with us,,,That would be something.

Becuase even in this MP3 format (how I got it from a good friend) – this is one amazing show – and the sound has a deep rich and clear feel to it – I know that Van loves the beatiful city of Utrecht, Holland and it clearly shows in his passionate performance here this summer night in 1996.

Notes from original uploader

13 years ago I reiceved a DAT from KEN DIXON (Ohio) with this nice show (don’t remember if he was the taper or if he have made a DAT clone for me). I transfered in 1995 the DAT on CD-AUDIO with my standalone PIONEER PDR-05 (connected with an optical cable), so This transfer was just maded (this time a rip from CD-AUDIO in secure speedy with EAC). Talking with ROEL, he have suggested to upload it as in the past this show (only partial, so not complete) was treeded (..or seeded ??) in low quality sound.
As this show contain some gems as “Stringman” and a rare duets with Simon & Garfunkel (on Helpless and Only love can Break your Heart) and a really emotional “Sound of Silence” with Neil on solo electric guitar, I’m happy to share this really particular show, specially in this quality.

Review by Brian Murphy:

“I picked up this CD on the weekend. — Absolutely amazing. It was recorded in 1988 from concerts with the Chieftains in Ireland and contains most of the stuff from Irish Heartbeat. [It contains a] version of “Moondance” – as an *IRISH JIG*. Yes that’s right. I couldn’t believe it. It sounded just like an ordinary jig until I heard the words. I didn’t think that he could still find anything new in the song, the way he plays it in concert recently, but this just blew me away. Also a version of “Send In the Clowns” in which he actually sings it for real, no clowning around, no long pauses, no nothing. Just Van singing a great song as if he means it. (This track is not from the Chieftains concert, but comes from Ronnie Scott’s club in 1986).”

My Notes:

This is one amazing bootleg, don’t let the MP3@320 throw you off – the sound clarity is a good as any Flac version of this bootleg out there, (which I have never seen one circulate yet).

The sound clarity is studio quality and this one is a straight up killer, it is a must have for any Van collector, if you only archive and collect Flac, you might want ot break your rule for this one – ’cause as mentioned before the Flac is a rare as hens teeth.

Which is alright – becuase much respect and appreciation to whoever edited and compiled these MP3’s @ 320kbs – they have some mad skills, they are flawless and the tracks flow from track to track like magic.

Beautiful Soundboard Bootleg.

Enjoy and Happy New Year From
